The Steelers are encouraging fans to arrive early to enjoy in-stadium pregame activities for the team’s regular season home opener versus the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, September 16. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and all gates will open at 11 a.m. Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. and the Will Call ticket window (Gate B) will open at 10 a.m.
MILITARY SWEAR IN
Before the start of Sunday’s game, Heinz Field and the Pittsburgh Steelers will welcome Re-enlisting members and new Recruits from each branch of the military on the field during pregame to take their Oath of Service to the military. Over 100 soldiers will take part in the swear in process.
The National Anthem will be performed by the United States Army Herald Trumpets. They will be joined by the Joint Services Color Guard.
The 13th Bomb Squadron will perform a flyover after the conclusion of the National Anthem. Pittsburgh local and Season Ticket Holder Captain Lauran Kolod will fly one of the aircraft.
TERRIBLE TOWEL TWIRL
Before each Steelers game, a select group will perform the terrible towel twirl on the field near the Steelers’ player tunnel. This week’s Terrible Towel Twirl will be led by Steelers Season Ticket Holder and Captain of the 2018 United States Ryder Cup Team Jim Furyk.
COACH OF THE WEEK
Upper Saint Clair Football Head Coach Jim Render will be honored as the High School Coach of the week at the two-minute warning in the first half. Coach Render recently recorded his 400th career win, the first WPIAL coach to do so.
ON FIELD GOLF CHALLENGE HOSTED BY JIM FURYK
Three Steelers Season Ticket Holders will compete to win four tickets to the 2020 Ryder Cup in a halftime chipping contest. Contestants will chip golf balls from the south end of the field towards the Steelers logo at midfield. The closest golf ball to the center of the logo will win.
ATI SALUTE TO HEROES
The ATI Salute to Heroes features a local military hometown hero at each game during the first break of the 3rd quarter. This week’s hero is Robert Morris University President and retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Chris Howard.
STAGE AE TAILGATE ZONE
Fans are encouraged to stop at Stage AE, the Official Tailgate Zone of the Steelers. Admission is free and the doors open at 9 a.m. Bon Journey will be performing at Stage AE and fans will be able to participate in Steelers prize giveaways, including autographed items. Food and drink specials will be available during the tailgate.

ART ROONEY AVENUE
Before each game, fans are invited to participate in free activities along Art Rooney Ave. outside of the stadium three hours prior to kickoff. Fans can purchase food and drinks while enjoying experiences inside the Gameday Live Tents, a meet-and-greet with Steely McBeam, take photos with giant inflatable Steelers gloves, enter to win prizes from various Steelers partners and more. Fans can also take a picture with the Ryder Cup when on display from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Steelers offer free Wi-Fi for all fans throughout Heinz Field. More information will be provided once fans enter the stadium.
For all home games in 2018, the Steelers have a 50/50 raffle with proceeds benefiting local charities. One fan will take home half the prize, and for this game, the other half will benefit the Arthur J. Rooney Scholarship Fund. The FedEx Great Hall along the East side of the stadium will offer fans an in-stadium experience unlike any other. DJ Steve Maffei Jr. will be playing music for fans.
FORD FAN ZONE
The Ford Fan Zone is located under the scoreboard in the south end zone and features activities for fans at each home Steelers game. This week, Steelers Legend Dwayne Woodruff will meet fans for photo opportunities from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
