The Steelers are encouraging fans to arrive early to enjoy in-stadium pregame activities for the team’s regular season home game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, October 7. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and all gates will open at 11 a.m. Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. and the Will Call ticket window (Gate B) will open at 10 a.m.

CRUCIAL CATCH

The NFL has partnered with the American Cancer Society to raise money for cancer screenings in underserved communities. With more than $18 million raised to date, the success of the program has evolved to provide screenings for all types of cancer. Every October, NFL teams take part in this campaign to help raise money for the American Cancer Society’s CHANGE Program.

Sunday’s Steelers game will feature numerous events and activities aimed to raise awareness and donations. Each fan attending Sunday’s game will also receive a pink Crucial Catch Terrible Towel upon entry, sponsored by the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and Neighborhood Ford Store.

 

ONFIELD ACTIVITIES

$10,000 DONATION (approx.. 11:30 a.m.)

Representatives from Ford, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC will present the 2018 Warriors in Pink quilt and a check for $10,000 to the Susan G. Komen of Greater Pennsylvania foundation to help in the fight against breast cancer.

DEDICATED TO SURVIVORS (approx. 12:43 p.m.)

As we recognize the Crucial Catch / Intercept Cancer Initiative, we welcome a special presentation dedicated to survivors in the fight against this deadly disease. International Opera Star and Pittsburgh native Marianne Cornetti will perform an uplifting song dedicated to survivors and their families. Joining her on the field for the presentation will be local cancer survivors from UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society.

NATIONAL ANTHEM (approx. 12:57 p.m.)

Nashville recording artist Chelsea Field will perform the National Anthem joined on the field by her mother Cherrie, a cancer survivor. The United States Air Force Color Guard will join Chelsea for the singing of the anthem.

TERRIBLE TOWEL TWIRL (approx. 1:01 p.m.)

Before each Steelers game, a select group will perform the terrible towel twirl on the field near the Steelers’ player tunnel. As part of the Crucial Catch Initiative, The Towel Twirl will be led by Steelers Hall of Fame Running Back Jerome Bettis and his mother Gladys Bettis, a Breast Cancer Survivor.

COACH OF THE WEEK (2nd quarter)

The Steelers will honor Shady Side Academy Head Coach Charlie DiNardo as the Coach of the Week for week three. DiNardo has led his team to 3-0 start, including a 56-36 win over top-ranked Steel Valley. Coach Ed Dalton of McGuffey will also be honored as Coach of the Week for week four. McGuffey’s physical brand of defense has earned his team three shutouts out of five games.

UPMC CRUCIAL CATCH COMPETITION (Halftime)

Select UPMC Doctors will participate in an on-field catching competition for the right to make a $10,000 donation to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.

ATI SALUTE TO HEROES (3rd quarter)

The ATI Salute to Heroes features a local military hometown hero at each game during the first break of the 3rd quarter. This week’s hero is Colonel Frank Davis. Davis is serving his 27th year as an Officer in the US Army, having been deployed six times to Iraq, Afghanistan and other regions.

 

PRE-GAME ACTIVITIES

STAGE AE TAILGATE ZONE

Fans are encouraged to stop at Stage AE, the Official Tailgate Zone of the Steelers. Admission is free, and the doors open at 9 a.m. Vertigo Red will be performing at Stage AE and fans will be able to participate in Steelers prize giveaways, including autographed items. Food and drink specials will be available during the tailgate.

ART ROONEY AVENUE

Before each game, fans are invited to participate in free activities along Art Rooney Ave. outside of the stadium three hours prior to kickoff. Fans can purchase food and drinks while enjoying experiences inside the Gameday Live Tents, a meet-and-greet with Steely McBeam, take photos with giant inflatable Steelers gloves, enter to win prizes from various Steelers partners and more.

 

IN-STADIUM ACTIVITIES

FREE Wi-Fi

The Steelers offer free Wi-Fi for all fans throughout Heinz Field. More information will be provided once fans enter the stadium.

50-50 RAFFLE

For all home games in 2018, the Steelers have a 50/50 raffle with proceeds benefiting local charities. One fan will take home half the prize, and for this game, the other half will benefit the Susan G. Komen Greater Pennsylvania Foundation and Cancer Research at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. The Pittsburgh Steelers will reward fans who arrive early with free prizes and giveaways as part of the team’s 1st-IN-GOAL promotion, presented by Steelers Nation Unite. The first 25,000 fans to enter Heinz Field for Sunday’s game vs. the Atlanta Falcons will receive a scratch-off card revealing a prize. DJ Steve Maffei Jr. will be playing music for fans starting at 11 a.m.

FORD FAN ZONE

The Ford Fan Zone is located under the scoreboard in the south end zone and features activities for fans at each home Steelers game. This week, Steelers Legend Randy Grossman will meet fans for photo opportunities from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
