Steelers to host Family Fest at Heinz Field
First ever open practice to be hosted at Heinz Field features music and fun for all ages
The Pittsburgh Steelers will host Family Fest at Heinz Field on Sunday, August 6, which will be highlighted by the team’s first ever open training camp practice at the stadium. The event will run from 5-9 p.m., and admission is $10 for all fans.
Please note that traffic patterns will be affected on the Three Rivers Regatta and home Pirates game. Heinz Field management reccomends all fans arrive early.
Activities for Family Fest will take place outside on Art Rooney Avenue beginning at 3 p.m., and continue throughout Heinz Field in the FedEx Great Hall, the Ford Fan Zone and the West Concourse.
Fans will have the opportunity to take a photo next to all six of the team’s Lombardi Trophies in the FedEx Great Hall and also meet Steelers alumni. In addition, fans can enter for the chance to win sideline passes to take in practice from field level, and win a signed practice jersey from a Steelers player.
Prior to Steelers’ player introductions before practice, a Parade of Champions march with Special Olympic Athletes, First Responders and members of the military will take place on the field. Steelers alumni Merril Hoge, Tunch Ilkin and Craig Wolfley will provide analysis from the sideline during practice.
The team’s 2016 Highlight Film ‘Whatever It Takes’ will be shown on the stadium’s scoreboard, along with on-field performances by the Steeline Drumline, the Hell on Wheels BMX stunt show and Bill Camp’s Famous Flying Dogs. DJ Steve Maffei will provide music throughout the event in the Ford Fan Zone. A 50/50 raffle will also be held which will benefit Youth Football.
Steelers Nation Unite will be recognizing a group of winners from this year’s inaugural SNU Fan Awards, which honor some of the program’s top members from 2016. The winners will be recognized on the field and on the scoreboard prior to the start of practice. Steelers Nation Unite members will also have a chance to score on-field experiences throughout the night. To learn more about the official home of Steelers Nation and join for free, fans can visit SteelersNationUnite.com or the Steelers Nation Unite page on the team’s official mobile app.
The Steelers’ open practice will be hosted inside Heinz Field. Normal policies and procedures for gate entry will be in effect, including the NFL’s Clear Bag Policy. All fans inside the stadium are expected to follow Heinz Field’s code of conduct, P.R.I.D.E.
